ABOUT US
We’re a registered charity with roots going back to the Maritime Ipswich ’82 celebrations. When we first began, the Wet Dock was in real decline, and our mission was simple: help bring this historic area back to life. More than 35 years on, the transformation into today’s vibrant Waterfront has been remarkable.
What We Do
Our focus now is celebrating and protecting the rich maritime history of Ipswich and the River Orwell - a story that stretches all the way back to the 7th century. We support learning at every age, from community education to bursaries for young people who want to build a future in the maritime world. Click the button below to learn more.
Our Image Archive
Over the years, we’ve built a large collection of historic photographs of the Wet Dock and the River Orwell. You can explore the archive through the Suffolk Archive and on our website, and we’re always happy to receive new image donations. Access the archive here.
Visit Our Window Museum
We also run our own Window Museum on Albion Quay, near Dance East on the Waterfront. It’s open all day, every day - a little slice of Ipswich’s maritime past. Find out more here.
