Stars to Steer By
Author, publisher, writer and blogger Julia Jones will be our next speaker, on Wednesday 4th November at 7.30pm at the Methodist Church, Black Horse Lane, Ipswich IP1 2EF.
She will be talking about the amazing women sailors who shine in her book STARS TO STEER BY, including Anna Brassey, Ann Davison, Tracy Edwards and Ellen McArthur.
Julia will be highlighting their sailing achievements in the context of their times - and looking at the major changes to women’s lives which took place from the late nineteenth century onwards.
We reviewed this fascinating book (published by Adlard Coles) in Ipswich Maritime Matters - IMT's twice-yearly magazine available at www.ipswichmaritimetrust.org.uk/magazines - Issue 49, page 28.
If you missed the review, and would like a copy for yourself or to give as a Christmas present, Julia will be signing copies during the evening.
IMT members free; guests £5.
