Maritime festivities with Ipswich Maritime Trust during Heritage Open Days

Join us on the Waterfront as we celebrate Heritage Open Days, on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th September 2026, from 11am-4pm.

Can you help Ipswich Maritime Trust during the maritime festivities for Heritage Open Days?

We’ll be based in the Old Custom House on Common Quay, with exhibitions and activities – including our Heritage Harbour maritime trail and quiz (there may be prizes!).

This year we are joined by sailing smacks Pioneer and Excelsior, who will be moored alongside on Common Quay, and as with all Heritage Open Day venues, are free to explore.  

And on Sunday, local shanty group The Shefarers, will be encouraging everyone to sing along.

We’re looking for people (over 16 years: no upper age limit!) to help Ipswich Maritime Trust over the weekend. This could be a couple of hours chatting to visitors. Or maybe you have specialist maritime knowledge and could talk about some of our artefacts and models that will be on show?
